Pre & Post Care

Pre-Waxing Care Instructions:

  1. Exfoliate the Skin:

    • Gently exfoliate the area to be waxed 1-2 days before your appointment. This helps remove dead skin cells, allowing for a smoother wax and reducing the risk of ingrown hairs.

  2. Avoid Sun Exposure:

    • Avoid sunbathing or tanning beds for at least 24-48 hours before waxing. Sunburned skin is more sensitive and can be easily irritated during waxing.

  3. No Moisturizers or Oils:

    • On the day of your appointment, avoid applying lotion, oils, or creams to the skin. These can make it harder for the wax to stick to your hair.

  4. Let Hair Grow:

    • Ensure your hair is at least 1/4 inch long (about the size of a grain of rice). This will help the wax grab the hair and remove it properly.

  5. Avoid Certain Medications:

    • If you're using Retinol or any other acne treatments, be sure to stop using them for at least 3-5 days before waxing. These can thin the skin and make it more sensitive.

  6. Avoid Alcohol:

    • Avoid consuming alcohol 24 hours before waxing. These can increase skin sensitivity and cause irritation or discomfort during the waxing process.

Post-Waxing Care Instructions:

  1. Avoid Touching the Waxed Area:

    • Avoid touching the skin for at least a few hours after waxing to prevent transferring bacteria to the freshly waxed area.

  2. Avoid Hot Showers/Baths/Saunas/Hot Tubs/Steam Rooms

    • Do not take hot showers, baths for at least 24 hours post-wax. The heat can cause irritation and open up your pores, making your skin more susceptible to infection.

  3. Avoid Sweat:

    • Refrain from intense exercise and activities that cause sweating for 24 hours after waxing. Sweat can cause irritation and increase the risk of developing ingrown hairs.

  4. Wear Loose Clothing:

    • After waxing, wear loose-fitting clothing to prevent friction and irritation in the area that was treated.

  5. Avoid Sun Exposure:

    • Avoid sunbathing, tanning beds, or using tanning lotions for at least 48 hours after waxing. The skin will be more sensitive and prone to burns.

  6. Use Soothing Products:

    • Apply aloe vera gel or an after-wax soothing lotion to calm the skin. These can help reduce redness and prevent irritation.

  7. Exfoliate Gently:

    • After 48 hours, begin gently exfoliating the waxed area 2-3 times a week to prevent ingrown hairs. Be careful not to irritate the skin by scrubbing too harshly.

  8. Avoid Perfumes or Deodorants:

    • For at least 24 hours, avoid using scented products like perfumes, deodorants, or lotions in the waxed area, as they can cause irritation.
