Pre & Post Care
Pre-Waxing Care Instructions:
-
Exfoliate the Skin:
-
Gently exfoliate the area to be waxed 1-2 days before your appointment. This helps remove dead skin cells, allowing for a smoother wax and reducing the risk of ingrown hairs.
-
-
Avoid Sun Exposure:
-
Avoid sunbathing or tanning beds for at least 24-48 hours before waxing. Sunburned skin is more sensitive and can be easily irritated during waxing.
-
-
No Moisturizers or Oils:
-
On the day of your appointment, avoid applying lotion, oils, or creams to the skin. These can make it harder for the wax to stick to your hair.
-
-
Let Hair Grow:
-
Ensure your hair is at least 1/4 inch long (about the size of a grain of rice). This will help the wax grab the hair and remove it properly.
-
-
Avoid Certain Medications:
-
If you're using Retinol or any other acne treatments, be sure to stop using them for at least 3-5 days before waxing. These can thin the skin and make it more sensitive.
-
-
Avoid Alcohol:
-
Avoid consuming alcohol 24 hours before waxing. These can increase skin sensitivity and cause irritation or discomfort during the waxing process.
-
Post-Waxing Care Instructions:
-
Avoid Touching the Waxed Area:
-
Avoid touching the skin for at least a few hours after waxing to prevent transferring bacteria to the freshly waxed area.
-
-
Avoid Hot Showers/Baths/Saunas/Hot Tubs/Steam Rooms
-
Do not take hot showers, baths for at least 24 hours post-wax. The heat can cause irritation and open up your pores, making your skin more susceptible to infection.
-
-
Avoid Sweat:
-
Refrain from intense exercise and activities that cause sweating for 24 hours after waxing. Sweat can cause irritation and increase the risk of developing ingrown hairs.
-
-
Wear Loose Clothing:
-
After waxing, wear loose-fitting clothing to prevent friction and irritation in the area that was treated.
-
-
Avoid Sun Exposure:
-
Avoid sunbathing, tanning beds, or using tanning lotions for at least 48 hours after waxing. The skin will be more sensitive and prone to burns.
-
-
Use Soothing Products:
-
Apply aloe vera gel or an after-wax soothing lotion to calm the skin. These can help reduce redness and prevent irritation.
-
-
Exfoliate Gently:
-
After 48 hours, begin gently exfoliating the waxed area 2-3 times a week to prevent ingrown hairs. Be careful not to irritate the skin by scrubbing too harshly.
-
-
Avoid Perfumes or Deodorants:
-
For at least 24 hours, avoid using scented products like perfumes, deodorants, or lotions in the waxed area, as they can cause irritation.
